During the first two posts in this series we looked at the possibility of a baby being injured during the birth process and the possible consequences of that injury, along with signs and symptoms that may be present when a baby is misaligned during birth.
Today we are going to talk about how these birth injuries can be corrected gently, safely and effectively by the right approach.
If a child is misaligned during the birth process, frequently the upper neck will suffer the worst of the consequences. A doctor trained in upper cervical techniques such as Upper Cervical, will be uniquely qualified to provide appropriate care for your child.
The wonderful aspect of finding problems early in the life of your child is that the frequency needed of an adjustment. An infant corrected at birth or within the first year of life may be able to hold that one adjustment for months if not years. Unlike an adult who was developed chronic postural distortions, degenerative changes and bad habits. An infant or small child has a misalignment that is new to their body. As a result the misalignment will frequently correct much faster than a similar misalignment would in an adult.
So get your kids checked…there really is no downside to having a properly aligned spinal column and properly functioning brain and nerve system.
And a skilled upper cervical chiropractor will be able to correct this misalignment without any popping, cracking or twisting of the spine. A gentle and precise force to realign the atlas is the key.
Children receiving upper cervical chiropractic care have colic symptoms reduced by 5 times
In the October 2012 edition of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, researchers from the United Kingdom examined the use of upper cervical chiropractic care for children with colic symptoms.
104 infants 8 weeks old or younger were divided into 3 groups. Children who didn’t receive any care, known as the control group. Children who received upper cervical chiropractic, but there parents didn’t know they were receiving care. And children who received upper cervical chiropractic, but the parents did know they received care. Parents then kept a crying diary to determine the effect of the care. The 2 treatment groups were created in order to keep the parents from being biased into believing their kids were getting better, even if they weren’t.
The results were astounding! 95% of the babies receiving care in both of the treatment groups had a significant reduction in colic symptoms (uncontrollable crying) than those who received no care. Overall the children in the upper cervical chiropractic group had a 5 times reduction in their colic symptoms.
